Heads Up Display (HUD) WindshieldsHeads Up Display allows a driver to keep their head up (observing the road) and still see important vehicle information such as the car's speed.
In HUD, a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) laminate is added between the glass surfaces so that the instrumentation readings (e.g. mph, rpm's, temperature control, fuel, oil, etc.) are seen (via reflection) in the bottom part of the windshield. HUD is a comfort and safety feature that eliminates the need to look down at the dash while driving HUD is a feature installed by a manufactures and is only available in certain makes and models. The PVB laminate used in HUD also provides acoustic protection from outside noise--producing a quiet passenger cabin. It should be noted that some people find Heads UP Display's distracting and/or annoying. If your car offers HUD it will allow you to turn the system on or off depending upon your preference. Check your car manual for information specific to your vehicle. Take a look at other special windshield options.
